Rolling Stock

The rolling stock for the layout will be a mix of scratchbuilt and kit built.

Passenger rolling stock will be scratchbuilt from styrene sheet and strip. Because of the small size of the layout, the coaching stock will mainly be based on the Midland six wheel stock which was used for suburban traffic in the period modelled - around 1912. The full size coaches were 31 feet and 33 feet long, which gives a model length of about 9 inches (230mm) and allows for a reasonable train of a tank loco and four coaches on the layout.

Construction has started on some clerestory coaches.

Coach Construction

Goods rolling stock is being built from kits principally because there is a ready supply of very good quality kits on the market. The main modification to the kits is to add sprung axleguards to improve running with Scale7 track and wheel standards.
